What's in the box: A curated vinyl record, usually from an indie artist, sent with recipe pairings chosen to match the music.

Turntable Kitchen has been mixing food and music for years, and the Pairings Box is the clearest example of that idea. You get a record along with recipes meant to be cooked while it plays. The Pairings Box starts at $25. A separate Coffee & Vinyl option starts at the same price, which makes this one of the cheaper ways to try a themed vinyl club. The company also runs Sounds Delicious, a series where artists reimagine whole classic albums. Recent examples include White Bike covering The Postal Service's Give Up and Sorcha Richardson taking on The Killers' Hot Fuss. Numbered releases such as TK102, a Blonde Redhead EP, point to a long-running catalog. The site is also a food and music blog with recipes, cocktails, travel guides and audio gear advice, so each shipment comes with plenty of background. On the downside, some of the editorial content looks dated. The site also does not clearly explain plan lengths, cancellation terms or how each record is chosen. The picks lean indie and curated, so if you want mainstream new releases or your choice of genre, look elsewhere. If you enjoy finding lesser-known artists and like the idea of a soundtrack for dinner, this is a charming, low-cost option.
