What's in the box: A limited-edition package of exclusive vinyl, often multi-LP sets of rare or unreleased recordings on colored vinyl, plus collectibles such as trading cards, prints, or film memorabilia.
The Vault is the quarterly vinyl club run by Third Man Records, the Nashville label Jack White founded. Every three months, members receive a limited-edition package built around exclusive vinyl. It is often archival or unreleased material, and it comes with a few curated collectibles. Package #70 shows how big these can get. Broken Boy Soldiers XX is a three-LP set marking 20 years of The Raconteurs' debut, with 23 tracks. Twenty-two of them have never been released, including the band's first live show, recorded in Liverpool in 2006. It is pressed on three colors of vinyl and comes with a 35mm film strip from the "Steady, As She Goes" video shoot. It also includes one collectible instrument card, with some cards randomly signed or foil. You can join quarter by quarter or sign up for a full year. Perks include 10% off at the Third Man store online and in person, presale access to events and releases, Vault-only goods, a members' news blog, and streaming offers from Qobuz and Nugs.net. Each package has a firm signup deadline, so join in time for the release you want. The main Vault page does not list pricing. The main caveat is taste. Packages come from Third Man's own catalog and circle of artists, so the club pays off most for fans of that world.
