What's in the box: Prepared meals that you picked one by one, built around specialty diets such as heart healthy, low sodium and diabetes-friendly.
Silver Cuisine is no longer operating. Its parent company, bistroMD, has retired the brand, and silvercuisine.com now redirects to a bistroMD transition page. When it ran, Silver Cuisine delivered prepared meals for health-conscious older adults. The menu covered specialty diets, including heart healthy, low sodium, diabetes-friendly, dairy free and gluten free options. Its main appeal was flexibility. You ordered meals one by one with no minimum order size, so you could buy a few whenever you needed them and skip any schedule. That simple setup had downsides. There was no built-in way to keep track of favorite meals, and you had to enter payment details for every order. The transition page sends former customers to bistroMD, which works differently. bistroMD is a weekly auto-delivery subscription with 10 to 20 meals per order. You can skip or cancel, and you can pick your own meals or take the dietitian-recommended ones. bistroMD says these are the same meals Silver Cuisine customers knew. If you liked Silver Cuisine for small, occasional orders, that no-minimum, order-when-you-want model is gone. If you need senior-focused meal delivery, compare several current services on order flexibility, minimums and diet options before you choose.
