What's in the box: Members get reminiscence newspapers with carer's notes plus access to a bank of ready-made activities, quizzes, videos and music for dementia care.

Daily Sparkle is a UK company that makes activity resources for people living with dementia. It is aimed mainly at care and nursing homes, hospitals, day centres and home care providers, not individual families. Its best known product is a reminiscence newspaper. It comes in daily, weekly, sensory and sporting editions, with large-font, audio and non-English language versions for residents with different needs. Members also get an Activity Bank of ready-made activities, quizzes, videos, music playlists and interactive apps. There are planning tools too, such as an activity planner and resident profiles that record interests and Pool Activity Levels to support person-centred care. Online training and e-learning courses for activity coordinators are sold alongside, and there is a shop and a free hub of session ideas and advice. Be aware that this is a resource membership, not a physical gift box. The site does not clearly say what, if anything, is posted out, and prices are not shown on the main pages. A four-week free trial of activities is offered, which is a sensible way to test whether it suits you. For a care setting that needs a steady supply of structured material suited to dementia, it looks well thought through. For a relative hoping to send a monthly parcel to an older family member, it is probably the wrong product.
