What's in the box: Each monthly themed box contains 7 to 14 baits, lures, tackle items and accessories, plus a digital magazine and video tutorials on how to fish them.
Lucky Tackle Box is one of the longer running fishing subscriptions in the US. Fishhound acquired it in 2013, and Nuvest Ventures bought its assets in 2019. It still ships a box every month. Each box has a monthly theme, such as pre-spawn, post-spawn, shallow water or back to basics. A box holds 7 to 14 baits, lures, tackle items and accessories. Themes like pre-spawn and post-spawn point to a strong bass focus, so anglers who mainly fish for other species should look at past boxes before subscribing. The education is the strongest part of the service. Subscribers get a digital magazine called Lucky Monthly and video tutorials that show how to use the lures in that month's box. The site also has a library of more than 400 tips videos and blog posts. For newer anglers, this makes a pile of unfamiliar lures much easier to use. The downside is that you have little control. You do not choose the items, so experienced anglers with set preferences may get duplicates or lures they would never tie on. The homepage footer still shows a 2021 copyright, which suggests that not every part of the site is kept up to date. Overall it is a sensible choice for anglers who want to learn new techniques and don't mind being surprised by what arrives.
