Postfly Box is a monthly fly fishing subscription that has been running since 2013. It is now part of Catch Co., which bought parent company Recur Outdoors in September 2021, and the subscription is still offered. According to the site, each box mixes premium flies chosen by its staff with gear and accessories, tips and stories, custom decals and other small surprises. Postfly also runs a large fly shop selling fly assortments, fly tying supplies and wading gear, so subscribers who find a pattern they like can buy more of it. The company says its flies are tied at its own workshop in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and go through a quality control check. It says it uses hooks from Daichi, Gamakatsu, Ahrex and other established makers. Many assortments are listed as barbless, which suits anglers who fish catch and release waters. The site lists several plans, but the homepage does not say exactly how they differ, so check the details before you sign up. As with any surprise box, you do not get to pick every fly, and anglers matching very specific local hatches may receive patterns they rarely use. For newer fly anglers, or anyone who likes trying new patterns, it is a practical and fun way to fill out a fly box.
