Ownership. Acquired by Joyus in June 2012, and the tasting-box subscription ended after July 2012.
What's in the box: No box is available now; the original Foodzie tasting box held a selection of small-batch gourmet snacks and pantry foods from independent producers.
Foodzie was once a well-regarded name in artisan food. It started as an online marketplace for small-batch producers and later sold a monthly tasting box of gourmet snacks and pantry items from independent makers. Joyus bought the company in June 2012, and the tasting box subscription ended after July 2012. There has been no Foodzie box since then. Today foodzie.com is a very different site. It focuses on plastic-free kitchens and microplastics, with shop sections for utensils, food storage, food prep, cookware and bakeware, coffee and drink gear, and small appliances. It also has general food and health articles on bloating, migraine triggers, diverticulitis diets, fasting mimicking plans and Japanese snacks. The site does not offer a recurring food box, and it does not say whether it has any link to the original Foodzie team. If you want a gourmet pantry or olive oil subscription, you will not find one here. The current site may help if you want reading on cutting plastic out of your kitchen, but it is a blog and shop, not a subscription service. We score it at the bottom of the scale as a subscription box because there is no box to order. If you want curated artisan foods, look at gourmet box services that are still running.
