Bower Collective

What's in the box: A typical starter box holds refillable amber glass bottles plus a limescale remover, loo cleaner, bathroom spray and hand wash in a matching scent, with later refills sent in returnable pouches.

Bower Collective is a UK brand that sells plant-based cleaning and hand care products on a refill subscription. Most people start with the Bathroom Retreat Starter Kit, which comes in Lavender Milk or Yuzu Lemon. It includes refillable amber glass BowerBottles and four bathroom products: a limescale remover, a loo cleaner, a multi-surface bathroom spray and a hand wash. The kit costs £22.99. After that, refills arrive every two months for £29. Refills come in the reusable BowerPack pouch, which you can return for free, so the system cuts single-use plastic rather than just switching to recycled plastic. The brand says its products are vegan, cruelty-free and made in the UK, and it has held B Corp certification for five years. Fragrances use essential oils. Some shoppers will like that, but anyone sensitive to scent should be careful. The subscription is easy to manage. You get SMS and email reminders before each order, and you can delay, move or cancel online. A 30-day money-back guarantee covers the starter kit. The main catch is cost. Natural refills cost more than supermarket bleach and sprays, and the bottles only really pay off if you stay subscribed. The starter kit covers the bathroom only, so for the kitchen or laundry you would need other products or extra items from the shop.
