The Curious Drinker (formerly Craft Gin Club)

What's in the box: A box usually has a gin or rum from a smaller producer, and depending on the plan you choose it can also include mixers, cocktail ingredients or snacks.

The Curious Drinker is the new name for Craft Gin Club, a UK spirits subscription that has been running for over a decade. The rebrand reflects a wider range. Members now choose between gin and rum, and decide whether to add mixers, cocktail kits or snacks. The site says existing Craft Gin Club members keep their subscriptions, logins and account details, and that the team and producers have not changed. Flexibility is a strong point. Members can swap spirits, change how often boxes arrive, skip a delivery or cancel at any time. They also get loyalty points, members' pricing and exclusive offers. The focus is on carefully sourced spirits, including bottles you will not easily find in supermarkets, which suits people who like trying something new more than restocking a favourite. Alongside the subscription there is a shop selling one-off cocktail boxes such as Hugo Spritz, Margarita and Paloma kits, plus single-spirit discovery boxes and gin and rum advent calendars. These make sensible gifts. The homepage does not give subscription prices or exact box contents, so check the details before joining, especially the terms behind the advertised introductory saving. The subscription only covers gin and rum, so whisky drinkers will need to look elsewhere.
