What's in the box: When it operated, each box held books a Book Riot bibliologist chose to match the subscriber's reading profile, and a recommendations only option sent the picks without the books.

TBR: Tailored Book Recommendations is no longer operating, and its old address, mytbr.co, now redirects to the Book Riot newsletter signup page on bookriot.com. When it ran, TBR was a personalized book service from Book Riot, the US book media company. Subscribers filled out a reading profile about the genres, authors and books they liked and disliked. A staff member, called a bibliologist, then used that profile to choose books for them. Subscribers could have physical books mailed to them, or they could pick an option that sent written recommendations only and buy or borrow the titles themselves. The draw was that a person chose the books rather than an algorithm, and readers could find titles outside their usual habits. Because the service has ended, there is nothing to sign up for at the old address. The page it now points to offers only Book Riot's free email newsletter, which covers new releases, book news and general recommendations for all its readers, not picks for one person. Former subscribers with questions about past orders should contact Book Riot directly. Readers who want personalized recommendations today will need to look at other services, since TBR no longer provides them.
