What's in the box: Each week brings the meals you picked, either as kits with pre-portioned ingredients, mostly organic produce and recipe cards, or as fully prepared meals ready to heat.
Sunbasket is a US meal delivery service built around organic fresh produce and what it calls clean ingredients. It offers two styles: meal kits with step-by-step recipes that it says are ready in 30 minutes or less, and pre-made meals that heat in under five minutes. You can stick to one style or mix both in the same week. The weekly menu leans healthy and is tagged in detail, with plans and filters such as paleo, vegetarian, gluten-free, carb-conscious, keto-friendly, Mediterranean, diabetes-friendly and pescatarian. Sample dishes include salmon with artichoke romesco and lentils, chickpea and kale stew with poached eggs, and sweet potato and black bean chili. The recipes shown serve two. The company describes itself as a certified organic handler, and its site says you can skip or cancel anytime. That flexibility and the range of diets it covers are its main strengths. On the other side, Sunbasket has generally sat at the pricier end of the meal kit market, and the health focus may feel limiting for households that mostly want comfort food. Ownership is worth knowing too: since January 2022 it has been part of PSB Holdings alongside supplement maker Prüvit. Overall it is a solid pick for people who care more about organic ingredients and specific diets than about the lowest cost per serving.
