What's in the box: When it operated, a typical box held a selection of yarn plus one or more knitting patterns designed for it.
KnitCrate is not currently operating, and its website no longer loads, so you cannot subscribe or manage an account through it. When it ran, KnitCrate was a US subscription box for knitters. It sent a curated selection of yarn along with patterns that used it. Each delivery gave you materials and a project to start, which made it an easy way to try yarns you might not find at a local shop and to keep new projects coming. Subscribers often liked the surprise of opening each box and the chance to build skills with patterns they would not have picked themselves. The drawbacks were common to curated yarn boxes. You had little say over fiber, color or weight. A pattern that did not suit your taste or skill level could leave you with yarn you were not sure how to use. Because the service has closed, anyone with an old account, a gift subscription or an order that never shipped should contact their card issuer or payment provider, since help through the website is not available. If you want something similar today, choose a knitting or yarn subscription that is clearly active, shows recent boxes and states its terms plainly before you pay.
