What's in the box: A recurring supply of Dyper diapers or training pants in your child's size, often with packs of wipes.

Dyper is a US diaper brand that sells diapers, wipes and training pants, and it pitches itself on using less plastic than mainstream brands. Its site says most diapers are 75% plastic and that Dyper diapers are 55% USDA-certified biobased. The inner liner that touches the baby's skin is described as 100% plant-based, made from bamboo, and the diapers are sold without fragrance, dyes, alcohol, parabens or chlorine bleaching. The brand lists third-party backing from OEKO-TEX Standard 100, the USDA Biobased program and a Dermatest five-star rating for sensitive skin. Those certifications are a real point in its favor, because they are checkable rather than vague green claims. Still, 55% biobased also means a large share of each diaper is not plant-based, and the comparison chart against Coterie, Kudos and Honest comes from Dyper itself. The ReDyper composting option is the most distinctive feature, but it is a separate program, and parents should confirm how it works where they live before paying for it. The site mentions free shipping on orders over $85. Dyper suits parents who want a lower-plastic, fragrance-free diaper and are willing to pay attention to its certifications. Parents who mainly want the lowest cost per diaper may do better with a store brand.
