What's in the box: When it ran, a typical box held several age appropriate items such as toys, books and baby care products, often with a small extra for the parent.

Citrus Lane has closed and no longer takes orders. Its website does not load, and the last boxes shipped in December 2015. When it was running, Citrus Lane was a monthly subscription box in the US for families with babies and young children. Parents gave their child's age, and each box was picked to suit that stage of development. A box usually held a mix of toys, books and baby care items, and it often included a small treat for the parent. The main appeal was discovery. The company wanted to introduce families to smaller brands and well regarded products they might not find on their own, so a box let parents try items before buying full sizes or sticking with a brand. Care.com bought the company in 2014, and the service wound down the next year. Because it no longer operates, you can't subscribe, and you should be careful with any site or seller using the Citrus Lane name today. If you like the idea of an age matched box for little ones, look at baby and toddler subscriptions that are still running. Before you sign up, check their age ranges, cancellation terms and recent customer feedback. Citrus Lane is still a good example of what a curated box for young children can look like, but you can't order it today.
