Booklandia

What's in the box: Two Spanish or bilingual children's books each month, matched to your child's age and reading level, from board books up to chapter books.

Booklandia is a children's book subscription built around reading in Spanish. Maceo Cabrera Estevez started it in Oakland, and it has been shipping since 2016. It is aimed at families raising kids with Spanish at home and at parents who want a more varied bookshelf. Each month a box brings two books matched to the plan you pick. The plans are sorted by format: board books for the youngest readers, Spanish picture books, bilingual picture books and Spanish chapter books. Together they cover roughly ages 2 to 12. The book selection is the main reason to subscribe. Titles come from authors and publishers in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and the US, so children meet characters, places and stories that are often missing from a typical chain bookstore. That makes it useful for heritage speakers as well as families learning Spanish from scratch. Be clear about what it is: a reading box, not a course. The site does not describe lesson plans, vocabulary drills or audio, so parents who want structured teaching will need to add their own. Two books a month is also a small amount for a fast reader, and Spanish is the only language offered. If you want a steady supply of well-chosen Spanish and bilingual children's books, it is a solid choice.
